02. How to uninstall the Linux version?
You have to execute as root the uninstall.sh script. It can be found in /opt/chartgeany directory.

03. I need to backup my data. What I have to do?
Chart Geany keeps all the data in user's home folder under the path .config/ChartGeany. The only file you need to backup is cgbase.dat. This file stores your Product Activation Key too.

04. Where is the list of supported symbols?
Chart Geany does not distribute any quotes or other sort of data, so there is no symbol list. If you need to find the symbol of a stock in order to download the quotes from Yahoo Finance or Google Finance, you have to use their search facilities.

05. Why Chart Geany fails to download quotes for some symbols?

Some symbols, like ^DJI of Yahoo Finance, are not available for download.

06. Manual appears empty in Ubuntu. How can I fix it?

This is a known packaging problem of version 1.0. It was solved in version 2.0. If you still run version 1.0 you can fix the problem executing the following command on a Linux terminal:

sudo ln -s /usr/share/doc/chart-geany-trial-1-bin/Manual.html /opt/chart-geany-trial-1/

07. How can I create indicator templates?

In order to create a template, follow the steps below:

1. Open a chart
2. Add the indicators you want eg: RSI and MACD
3. Go to Object Manager (Alt + O)  and press "Save Template".
4. Now you see the template manager. In "Save as" type a description for your template and press OK.
5. Press Cancel to close the template manager

Now in order to attach a template on a chart:

1. Open a chart
2. Go to Object Manager (Alt + O)  and press "Attach Template"
3. Click on the template you want to attach on the chart and press ok

08. How can I see the current price of the symbol on the chart?

Chart Geany offers periodical stock price updates. The chart, and all the indicators attached on it, is updated to reflect the new price quote. This feature must be available from the data feed and can be activated and deactivated from the preferences button panel of the chart, or by pressing ALT + P. The minimum update interval is 20 seconds.

09. How to upgrade from version 2 to version 3 in Ubuntu?

If you have previously installed trial or full version 2, you need to remove it manually before you install version 3.

For the trial version:

1. Open a console:

2. Run the following command from the command line:

sudo dpkg -r chart-geany-trial chart-geany-trial-bin

For the full version

1. Open a console:

2. Run the following command from the command line:

sudo dpkg -r chart-geany-full chart-geany-full-bin

Note: If you already have purchased version 2, you don't need to purchase version 3. Just uninstall full version 2 and install trial version 3. Your new trial installation will function without any limitation because it will recognize your PAK. It is advised to keep your PAK somewhere safe before your upgrade.

10. Do I need to buy a different PAK for every platform?

No. Product Activation Keys are cross platform. Chart Geany uses an afordable per person licensing scheme. You can run the full version in your Windows desktop and your Linux laptop using the same PAK.
